Laura VanGilder Fundraiser

Quick facts...

Where is it?
Location is site of the infamous FSX races. If you've never done it and don't know where it is, ask, but prepare to be ridiculed for not having done it. If you've done it and were/are to drunk to remember, go ahead and still ask, but understand you might have bigger issues.

Google Map Link: Klines Lane, Emmaus, PA 18049

What's the entry fee?
$15 with all proceeds lining VG's pockets for Tabor.

You say you're not fit...
Who gives. None of us are, it's January for God's sake. It isn't really about that anyway. It's about riding around in the fields with your friends, going hard, having fun, and helping a sister stay sharp for the big dance.

You say you don't have your 2010 racing license yet...
Again, who gives. You don't necessarily need it in your sweaty palms come race day. But you will need something to that effect.

So, two options...First, if you are that over achiever that already applied for it, because, you know, the Bike Line series is only 2 months away, you can log on to your USAC page and print the authorization to ride and that is as good as gold. Or PBR as we like to set the standard against.

Second, if you are the slacker that plans on waiting til the week before Bike Line to re-up, and then donate an extra $50 to USAC so you can be sure to get it on time, you can purchase a one-day license on site. Understand it's a one day license though....so you'll be purchasing one again for the second race if you do both (which you will), because, well, it's only good for one day.

Where's the prize list?
Stop thinking about yourself again, it's not about that. But rest assured, we'll put together somethin real nice. Maybe FSX style. Maybe not. But don't worry about it.

What if it's really cold?
It's January, you looking for a heat wave? It's cross. We race. Only minor exception is if it dips below "Epic" to merely "Stupid". This Saturday looks fine, 41 and partly sunny. Which these days, actually may constitute a heat wave. We'll worry about the 23rd as it draws closer and let you know.

Any other questions/comments, feel free to check in with Bill Elliston or Ray Ignosh. Otherwise, see you Saturday.

The Races are being held January 16th & 23rd. The BikeReg link with all the info. can be found HERE. Download a .pdf of the flyer pictured above HERE, the .jpg version can be found HERE.

A Day in the Life of J-POW!

Cool video from Colt of Cycling-Dirt. I especially like the background music. I wonder if J-Pow himself mixed it? I'm going to guess "Hell Yah."

2009 - a cycling retrospective...

I wanted to make a short music video for a few weeks now that summarized the entire 2009 cycling season. What I wasn't looking forward to was going through the hundreds of galleries and literally 45,000 or so pictures I've taken this cycling season. So yesterday I'm sitting at home sick after calling off sick from work when it hits me. I don't need to go through all those photos- what I'm looking for is right there in my "Around the Race" galleries. I feel those capture the "True Essence" of the race anyway, so those photos were perfect to use. I came up with 350 of the best photos from the "Around the Race" galleries. These are not cycling photos, but "photo's of cyclists." The people in these photos are just some of the people that make the North East/Mid-Atlantic cycling scene what it is: Extraordinary! You have the world-renowned Trexlertown trakkies on one end of the spectrum all the way to the world-famous MAC/DCCoD cyclocrossers and even a few fixies and naked Philly bike messengers are thrown in for good measure. What is constant about every single one of the photos is they ALL have a smile on their faces!

I chose 350 photos, but unfortunately Animoto has a cap of 250 images. I made a gallery over at my website that holds all 350 images. I set it up to be viewed as a slide show. You can view that at my website HERE. I'm displaying the video here on my blog via Vimeo because it looks the best on my blog, but to see it the way it was intended, please view it over at Animoto. CLICK HERE and be sure to view it in HQ. It looks excellent in HQ!

As an end of season gift to all my cycling friends and customers, I'd like to offer the High-Quality download free of charge to show my appreciation of your support. You may download the video file from my server HERE. Also, if you would like an .ISO file to burn it onto a DVD and watch in a DVD player, I have that to. Please e-mail me and I'll send you the link to where you can get it, once again free of charge!

Happy New year!

Well, 2010 is finally here. 2009 was a great year for me. I'm lucky to have a great wife, three beautiful kids, a roof over my head and a well-paying job with health insurance. I'm finally to the point in my wife where I make enough money at my full-time job where I don't have to work a second full-time job or three part-time jobs. It only took me 39 years, LOL.

Enjoy this New Year's Eve video of the ball dropping in Times Square. It doesn't look like Dick Clark will be with us much longer. I can't imagine watching the ball drop without him.
